Child soldiers in the Congo
Fund grantee AJEDI-Ka seeks to end the use of child soldiers in the Congo. Their outreach and community activism mobilizes local communities against the use of children as soldiers.

Spotlight OnFund grantees are on the front-lines of human rights activism around the world. The Fund is launching a series of several “Spotlight On” thematic website features to showcase the work of these human rights activists who make change every day. Through these “Spotlight On” features, the Fund hopes to draw more public attention to specific human rights issues and the grantees working on them, such as children and armed conflict, women’s rights, sexual rights, indigenous land or cultural rights, labor rights, environmental justice, and other important human rights concerns. The Fund’s first Spotlight focuses on the rights of children affected by armed conflict. Today, over 20 million children have had to flee their homes, schools, and communities and another 300,000 have been forced to take up arms in more than thirty active armed conflicts around the globe.
