$15,000 for general support of this organization, whose activities include providing technical assistance to local women’s rights organizations and compiling local documentation of violence against women in order to press for the full implementation of laws promoting women’s rights.



Women’s Development Association  (AEF—Association Épanouissement Féminin)
$5,000 for AEF’s project to conduct women’s rights education in marginalized areas of Casablanca to help poor women understand their rights and to facilitate their access to the justice system.



Friends and Families of Victims of Clandestine Immigration  (AFVIC—Amis et Familles des Victimes de l’Immigration Clandestine)
$15,000 for AFVIC’s project to provide legal support to migrants from sub-Saharan Africa to ensure police compliance with Morocco’s immigration laws, and to provide trainings to human rights and development organizations on the legal rights of migrants.



Amal Association for Women and Development  (Association Amal pour la Femme et le Développement)
$10,000 for general support of this organization, whose activities include providing legal support to female victims of violence and promoting women’s empowerment among vulnerable populations in El Hajeb.



Moroccan Association for Human Rights  (AMDH—Association Marocaine des Droits)
$15,000 for general support of this organization, whose activities include mobilizing 6,000 grassroots members across the country to demand government policies that protect human rights.



Amna Association for the Defense of Women against Violence  (Association Amna pour la protection des femmes victimes de violence) $5,000 for general support of this organization, whose activities include educating women in the northern city of Tangier about their rights and providing legal assistance to female victims of violence to help them bring charges against their attackers.



Aquarium Theatre Company  
$15,000 for the Aquarium Theater Company’s project to perform a play on violence against women in rural areas, violence centers and prisons throughout Morocco to expose women to information about their rights and refer them to legal services to bring charges against their attackers.



Women’s Research Association for Development  (ARFEDEC—Association de Recherche Féminine pour le Développement)
$5,000 for general support of this organization, whose activities include promoting women’s rights in northern Morocco by facilitating women’s participation in the planning and implementation of development projects and by providing legal assistance to female victims of violence.



El Amane Association for Women’s Development  (Association El Amane pour le Développment de la Femme)
$15,000 for general support of this organization, which seeks to ensure the full implementation of the revised Mudawana (Family Code) in Marrakech and surrounding rural areas by informing women about their rights, facilitating access to the legal system, and working with other human rights organizations to update policymakers about continuing violations of women’s rights.



Moroccan Forum for Truth and Justice  (Forum Marocain pour la Vérité et la Justice)
$20,000 for general support of this organization, whose activities include working to ensure that the Instance Équité et Réconciliation (Equity and Reconciliation Commission) casts light on the serious human rights abuses committed between 1956 and 1999 and that the reconciliation process leads to justice system reforms that will prevent such state-sponsored abuse from recurring.   



Initiative for the Promotion of Women’s Rights in Meknes  (IPDFM—Initiative pour la Promotion des Droits de la Femme Meknès) 
$5,000 for general support of this organization, whose activities include providing legal support to female victims of violence and pressing local and regional authorities in Meknes to implement laws that protect women’s rights.



Moroccan Organization for Human Rights  (OMDH—Organisation Marocaine des Droits Humains)
$15,000 for general support of this organization, whose activities include promoting human rights and the rule of law by conducting public education and making policy recommendations on judicial reform.



Amazigh Network for Citizenship  (Réseau Amazigh pour la Citoyenneté)
$10,000 for support of Réseau Amazigh’s project to promote government policies that respect and protect the rights of Tamazigh-speaking Berber communities.



2004

Moroccan Forum for Truth and Justice  

(Forum Marocain pour la Vérité et la Justice)

$15,000 for support of this organization’s project to document severe human rights violations committed between 1956 and 1999, to make this information available to researchers and to ensure that the public hearings and the final report of the Instance Équité et Réconciliation (the government-sponsored truth commission) cast light on these abuses and lead to justice system reforms that will prevent such state-sponsored abuse in the future.


Monitoring, Information and Evaluation Committee for the IER

(Comité de Suivi, d’Information et d’Évaluation de l’Instance Équité et Réconciliatio)

$7,500 for general support of this organization, whose activities include coordinating the participation of three major human rights organizations in the government-sponsored reconciliation process to document serious human rights abuses committed by state security forces from 1956 – 1999.

$15,000 for general support of this organization, whose activities include mobilizing its 6,000 grassroots members across the country to demand government policies that protect human rights and conducting public education to increase society’s awareness of and commitment to human rights principles.


El Amane Association for Women’s Development

(Association El Amane pour le Développement de la Femme)

$5,000 for general support of this organization, which seeks to ensure the full implementation of the new Family Code reforms by educating illiterate and semi-literate women in the Marrakech area about their rights, facilitating access to the legal system and working with other women’s rights organizations to inform policymakers about continuing violations of women’s rights.
