Egypt

Egypt’s revolution hasMap of Egypt ushered in a new and exciting era, and with it, huge opportunities and challenges for human rights activists. With its grant-making program in Egypt, the Fund for Global Human Rights aims to deliver financial resources to effective and emerging human rights actors as they push for a transition that offers meaningful political participation and delivers improved respect for human rights.

The Fund’s approach to grant-making—developed over the past eight years of building programs in diverse contexts—focuses on funding dynamic, young organizations; emerging issues; and movements that aim to build broad-based constituencies for human rights.

In Egypt, this will mean supporting a range of activities and actors operating at all levels—from the local to the national, with a particular focus on groups working outside Cairo.

The Fund’s program will be led by a local staff representative. Once that person is hired, s/he will design an outreach process to identify prospective grantees.
