About the Fund for Global Human Rights

The Fund for Global Human Rights is founded on the belief that securing basic freedoms worldwide requires effective, frontline organizations challenging abuse wherever it occurs. Thus the Fund for Global Human Rights works to ensure a strong, effective human rights community worldwide.  Grants are awarded through a competitive and transparent grants process in areas strategically chosen to advance human rights conditions.

Our grants support campaigns that otherwise might falter for lack of resources, bring financial stability to groups, and help organizations take their work to the next level in terms of visibility and impact.  The Fund supports organizations working to address a wide range of human rights issues, such as defending indigenous land rights in Guatemala, promote women's rights in Morocco, pressing for accountability for war crimes in West Africa, and ending the practice of bonded labor (a form of slavery) in India.  The Fund is committed to maximizing its and its donors' impact by supporting human rights groups with great promise, but minimal access to funding.

The Fund for Global Human Rights is governed and advised by a distinguished, international board of directors.  The Fund's operations are directed by Executive Director Regan Ralph, a human rights activist with extensive experience developing effective advocacy, policy and educational strategies.
